Fox Mak-Kart Go-Kart
Year:
1960

Manufactured in Janesville, Wisconsin, Fox Karts earned a reputation as a dominant force in early karting history, winning more International Championship titles than nearly any other brand combined.

This 1960 Fox Mak-Kart was professionally restored by Vintage Museum Restoration in Indianapolis, where it underwent a full disassembly and meticulous service. The chassis was placed on a jig table, checked for straightness, and corrected to original factory caster and camber specifications.

Every mechanical component, including the wheels, steering assembly, control arms, rods, hubs, and sprockets, was disassembled, show-chromed, and reassembled to factory standards. The chassis was hand-painted in a period-correct metallic sky blue. Every part used in the restoration is an original Fox Mak-Kart component.

Signature features include the rare Pallini teardrop fuel tank, drag-link steering, and a Foxcenter axle-mounted drum brake, all of which help make the Mak-Kart a standout in vintage karting.

This particular Mak-Kart was originally designed for use with West Bend two-cycle racing engines, which were factory options alongside

McCulloch powerplants in the early 1960s. The West Bend-powered Mak-Karts are extremely rare today.

Both West Bend 580 engines have been completely rebuilt using original factory parts, with matched porting and period-correct high-performance upgrades. These include original Max Torque clutches, Palmini chain guards and intake manifolds, 1-inch bore Tillotson carburetors, and Century megaphone exhausts. Each engine is equipped with its original recoil pull-start system.

In 1961, Fox Karts made history by securing first place in three classes at the International Kart Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, a testament to their performance pedigree.
