1939 Graham 108 Spirit of Motion “Sharknose” Combination Coupe This 1939 Graham Model 108 “Spirit of Motion,” commonly referred to as the “Sharknose,” is powered by a 218 CI inline 6-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed column-shift manual transmission. Finished in a striking two-tone Light over Dark Gray exterior, the car features a split windshield and rear window, fender skirts, a distinctive hood mascot, color-keyed wheels with polished trim rings and center caps, wide Whitewall tires, and chrome bumpers with front and rear guards. Amber driving lights complete the period-correct styling.
Introduced in the late 1930s, the Graham “Sharknose” was designed by Amos Northup and became one of the most radical and futuristic automotive designs of its time. Dubbed the “Spirit of Motion” for its streamlined, forward-leaning stance and dramatic Art Deco styling, the Sharknose stood out in an era of more conservative automotive design. Though it was polarizing when new, today it is highly regarded as a bold design statement and a rare piece of prewar American automotive history. Only a few hundred Model 108 Combination Coupes were built, making this example an especially rare survivor.
