In 1937, only 137 Pierce-Arrows were built, with just 17 produced in 1938 before the company closed its doors for good. Known for their exceptional craftsmanship, many Pierce-Arrows were custom-built to meet the specific requests of their owners. The company’s decline came during the Great Depression, which greatly reduced demand for high-end luxury vehicles.

This example is believed to be the only Town Car built by Pierce-Arrow in 1937. It features a custom coach-built body by Brunn and is powered by an eight-cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower. A three-speed overdrive transmission delivers power to the rear wheels, and four-wheel Bendix vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes provide stopping power. Finished in a striking two-tone silver and black, it features fender-mounted headlights and enclosed side-mounted spare tires.

Designed as a chauffeur-driven vehicle, it offers a spacious rear passenger compartment with a roll-down divider window for privacy. It is believed that Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen were once chauffeured in this car while visiting St. Louis, Missouri.
